Laser Dentistry

We are constantly incorporating new technology in our dental practice to benefit our patients.
Our latest addition has been the use of lasers, of which we now have three:

1. Waterlase MD™
Many procedures performed with the Waterlase MD™ do not require injections, reducing patient fear and anxiety by creating a more gentle and relaxing atmosphere. Patients typically experience less bleeding, swelling and post-op discomfort, and require less pain medication. Procedures that once took several appointments to complete, such as restorations in multiple quadrants, can now be finished in just one visit. The Waterlase MD™ also creates a better bonding surface for restorations.
The precision and accuracy of the Waterlase MD™ allows Dr. Kingsley to treat targeted areas of tooth structure and soft tissue, while maintaining the structural integrity of the tooth and leaving surrounding areas unaffected. Studies have shown that the Waterlase MD™ is less invasive and less traumatic than the drill, scalpel or electrosurge. Less invasive means more preservation of healthy tooth structure and tissue.

2. Easylase for soft tissue procedures such as:
Incision, excision, vaporization, ablation and coagulation of oral soft tissues including marginal and inter-dental gingival and epithelial lining of free gingiva and the following specific indications:  Excisional and incisional biopsies  Exposure of unerupted teeth  Fibroma removal  Frenectomy  Frenotomy  Gingival troughing for crown impressions  Gingivectomy  Gingivoplasty  Gingival incision and excision  Hemostasis and coagulation  Implant recovery  Incision and drainage of abscess  Leukoplakia  Operculectomy  Oral papillectomies  Pulpotomy  Pulpotomy as an adjunct to root canal therapy  Reduction of gingival hypertrophy  Soft tissue crown lengthening  Treatment of canker sores, herpetic and aphthous ulcers of the oral mucosa.  Vestibuloplasty  Laser Periodontal procedures, including: Laser soft tissue curettage  Laser removal of diseased, infected, inflamed and necrosed soft tissue within the periodontal pocket  Sulcular debridement (removal of diseased, infected, inflamed and necrosed soft tissue in the periodontal pocket to improve clinical indices including gingival index, gingival bleeding index, probe depth, attachment loss and tooth mobility.)

3. Diagnodent
The DIAGNOdent pen is a hand-held laser caries detection aid that provides  high detection accuracy. Sub-surface caries lesions can be extremely difficult to detect using an explorer.

A changing caries model: due to floridation, caries has gone "underground". While helping to improve the oral health of many Americans, fluoridation has resulted in harder tooth enamel. Incipient caries lesions that once began on the tooth's surface have no migrated below the surface.

Proven clinical results: Treatment decisions require a higher degree of certainty. The DIAGNOdent laser caries detection aid removes the doubt from treatment decisions regarding hidden caries ore questionable stained grooves. The device's ability to see into occlusal pits and fissures enables Dr Kingsley to treat sub-surface caries lesions with confidence
